A Brief History of Cohousing
Cohousing started in Denmark in the late 1960s when a group of dual income professional families were searching for better child care and a way to share evening meal preparation. There are now about 300 hundred projects there, with a wide range of family types and ages.
In North America there are more than 65 cohousing neighbourhoods and many more groups meeting regularly.
In Britain there are nine established projects and over twelve active groups. All details on the UK Cohousing Network website, (see Links).
