February Bulletin

We are continuing our searches for sites. Three areas of focus - West Reading, Tilehurst, Purley way, and out to Pangbourne etc.  Wokingham, and also Newbury, where there is possible scope to work with a developer on some large well placed sites.  More details on request, and we will be discussing this stuff at our meetings.

December Bulletin

We have been continuing to network in the last month or so; firstly by giving a presentation at the West Berkshire Green Exchange showcase in Newbury, where over 20 sustainable initiatives were on display; and secondly at a talk put on by Greater Reading Environmental Network (GREN)about the new Planning Policy Laws with the head of Reading Council's Planning Committee, and a campaigner from Friends of the Earth. The message to take away is that, despite government rhetoric, it is going to be much easier for developers to get their proposals passed, and so people are encouraged to make the most of the localism aspect of the legislation which allows local groups to make Neighbourhood Plans, and design their own developments.

With the new planning environment, we are contacting both local developers and local parish newsletters to see if their is interest from either side in adopting a cohousing model as part of development plans. Our searches are mainly in West Berkshire and Wokingham at this time.
